GOLF IN THE GULF
(6 Nights)
Day 1 — Arrive in Dubai, one of seven Emirates in the U.A.E. You will be transported to your hotel — no not on a magic carpet!
Day 2 — Dubai is the premier golf destination in the Arab world, today see what everyone is talking about! The Emirates GC, designed by Karl Litten, was the first grass course in the Middle East. The two immaculate championship courses are long, with lakes forming obstacles along the way. The impressive clubhouse is built in the style of bedouin tents!
Day 3 — Today see “other” sides of Dubai! Visit the Dubai Museum in the Al Fahidi Fort where you will experience Dubai through its great lifelike displays. More excitement? Explore the desert in a 4-wheel drive, ride the dunes or “wadi” bash. Dine under the stars in a Bedu encampment with traditional entertainment by a belly dancer. Explore the souks — spice, silk, and gold — perfect time to test your bargaining skills! Elegant, modern malls have everything you can imagine! If all this wears you out — relax on the beach!
Day 4 — Play a unique round of golf –the Dubai CC, oldest course in the Emirate. An all-sand course with “browns” instead of greens and you carry a patch of artificial turf to play off while on the fairways! The greens are built from hardened motor oil and topped with a fine mist of sand — giving the truest roll of anything you’ll have played! When you finish putting remember to sweep away the footprints and your ball’s little trail — this you do with a squeegee-like broom!
Day 5 — Another day to explore — if you haven’t ridden a camel or been horseback riding, today may be your day! If you’re a spectator the camel races and horse races are an exciting diversion!
For golfers there’s a course at the race track! The Dubai Golf & Racing Club has a links layout with rolling fairways and deep pot bunkers built within the race track. This is the only completely floodlit, 18-hole, course in the Middle East. Great to play in the cool of the evening, except on race nights! Nightlife in Dubai? This will totally surprise and delight you! Few cities can offer such a cosmopolitan range of dining choices.
After dinner enjoy everything from pubs and discos to Arabic nightclubs. There’s something for everyone!
Day 6 — Your last round of golf will be on the world-class Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Karl Litten designed this long championship course with ornamental lakes and seawater hazards to constantly challenge you! The intimidating final holes aim for the impressive clubhouse shaped as billowing sails of an Arabian dhow, capturing the essence of Dubai’s seafaring traditions Bring your stay to a fitting conclusion with a Dhow Dinner Cruise on the “Creek”. A leisurely cruise on a traditional wooden vessel giving a different view of this amazing city.
Day 7 — Time to depart this exotic land for home.
