GOLF, WINE AND CHATEAUX (6 nights)
Loire Valley
Day 1 — Arrive in the Loire Valley, the route of kings and the historical heart of France with beautiful castles and great wineries.
Day 2 — Golf the Les Bordes GC, one of the top five courses in France. It was built by Baron Bich, inventor of the bic razor, a masterpiece you must not miss.
Day 3 — In a region full of great golf the Bauge-Pontigne GC is among the top. A sensational setup with some very classy design ideas. Quite a long walk between several of the holes but every hole has its own special attraction.
Day 4 — Depart for your new home, near Tours. Enjoy the beautiful chateaux of the region and the town of Tours.
Day 5 — Golf on the Touraine GC, the oldest club in the Loire Valley area. A short but very pleasant undulating course that winds through woods and grassland. The clubhouse is a tiny chateau full of charm.
Day 6 — Play the Sept Tours GC, in a beautiful setting of woods and forest with the chateau in the background. This course will surprise you with its long par 4’s and narrow fairways.
Day 7 — Time to depart for your next venue!
LAND OF GOLF (6 nights)
Bordeaux & Biarritz
Day 1 — Arrive in the Bordeaux region, offering some of the best golf in France, thanks to the combination of sandy soil, pleasant climate, with mild winters and summers freshened by ocean breezes. Sample some of the most famous wines in the world.
Day 2 — Golf is at Pian Medoc GC, two superb and very technical courses designed in a classic links style layout. The best golf in the Bordeaux region.
Day 3 — Play Lancanau GC, designed by John Harris, a challenging course featuring tight fairways lined with beautiful pine trees. Gently undulating and punctuated with rivers and lakes, the soft sandy ground makes it extremely pleasant to play.
Day 4 — Depart Bordeaux for Biarritz, by tradition the golfing region of France. The area will enchant you with the quality of its courses, and the beauty of the ‘basque land’.
Day 5 — The Seignosse GC is your venue today. This course was voted the top course in France in 1989, and among the Top 10 in Europe since. Designed by van Hagge it is one of the most spectacular and beautiful courses in France.
Day 6 — Today golf on the Chiberta GC, which lies between the beaches and forest of Chiberta. This course mixes links, forest and parkland styles with scoring made difficult by small, contoured and well-defended greens. If the wind blows you will see the difference in your score!
Day 7 — Time to depart for your next port of call.
SUN, SEA & GOLF (6 nights)
Riviera & Provence
Day 1 — Arrive on the Riviera, with the rich blue of the sea and sky. The gentleness of the climate allows all-year round golf.
Day 2 — Golf is on the Royal Mougins GC, designed by Robert Von Hagge, it is a superb parkland course and a great test of golf. Huge bunkers and heavily contoured fairways are characteristic of Von Hagge’s course design.
Day 3 — Today explore on your own – visit the perfume capital – Grasse, or Monaco, try your luck at the casino in Monte Carlo! Golfers can take another shot at one of the excellent courses.
Day 4 — Depart Cannes for Provence. This is the region of bright light, fragrances and tranquility which inspired the paintings of Gezanne and Van Gogh.
Enroute golf at St. Endreol GC, set amidst the provencal hills, the well-designed layout runs through a rolling valley of cork, oaks and umbrella pines. A special test is the 13th island green set in the middle of a fast flowing river – it will leave you searching for divine inspiration!
Day 5 — Today play the very pretty Sainte-Baume GC where the emphasis is on enjoyment rather than protecting your score. The setting is lovely and it’s a great course to play between the region’s tougher challenges. You can open up on many holes but the greens are well protected and can be quick!
Day 6 — La Fregate GC, is probably the finest course on the Riviera. This hilly course has marvellous views overlooking the sea, the islands and the rocky coast. It is varied with pine woods, rocky ravines, lakes, vineyards and olive groves. Each hole offering a different challenge.
Day 7 — Depart for your next venue!
PARIS — “City of Light”
A pre or post visit is a must! You can stay in the city and enjoy all the
wonderful sightseeing, night life AND – shopping. Should you still have the golf bug we can base you in the countryside where golf can be played in Chantilly, Fontainebleau or a variety of other courses. Whichever you choose it will be an exciting extension.
Courses shown are suggested, if your choice is not shown we can substitute or add it. Additional nights can be added to play more golf or sightsee.
